If you have been viewing my blog, you may have noticed that I have not posted anything in a couple of weeks. Recently, several projects have taken much of my attention and I have not been able to post any writing. I apologize for this delay, but I would like to take the time to share more details about all of my sight-reading projects.
About three weeks ago, I obtained Finale software on my computer so I can finally transcribe the handwritten manuscript of my first book, Interval Topography: A Guide to Sight-Reading Mastery. Using this software involved a steep learning curve in developing technical skills. After a couple of weeks, I feel much more confident with my ability to navigate the features on Finale. While transferring the manuscript on the computer, I realized I needed to make substantial changes to the text so that the directions and format of the book are clearer for the intended audience. This process proved a bit more time consuming than I initially anticipated.
Additionally, I have been connecting with other pianists to learn more about different approaches to sight-reading. As mentioned in a previous post, I sent a sight-reading survey to individual pianists and some participants have submitted responses already. I intend to analyze these answers and write a report about my findings. Then I will hopefully publish the article in a piano journal and/or on this blog.
One pianist, Manu Fonsny (https://www.pianosightreading.com.au/) plans to conduct a video interview with me regarding my upcoming book Interval Topography. Also, I joined a Facebook group called Piano Sight Reading Community (https://www.facebook.com/groups/pianosightreadingcommunity) and created an account on Piano Forum (https://forum.pianoworld.com/) in hopes of reaching a broader audience for this blog.
Meanwhile, I continue practicing sight-reading daily and keep thinking of additional topics to develop on this website. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or questions concerning my work, please respond in the comment section below. I appreciate all the support and understanding as I keep exploring different avenues for future sight-reading projects.
Stay Tuned,
Robert
